Symphonic Rhapsody for concert band [13:15]
It is my intention to simply highlight the two basic elements of piece, melody and rhythm. Within a single movement, the composition is clearly divided into three distinct parts. The first part represents the thematic grandeur of the melody and the second part shows the rhythmic agility each group of players interacts with one another. These first two parts are separated by two different styles of episodes- bold and gentle. For the last part, the melodic material is brought back and presented in a more delicate orchestration while the rhythmic material appearing after a sudden tempo change excitingly leads the piece to the end.
