Shall We Dance for saxophone quartet [3:58]

This piece combines the musical language from both the Western concert tradition and popular music. The lively bass riff played by the Baritone Saxophone at the beginning is an essential component of the composition and the structural coherence. The music becomes more improvisational and highly chromatic in the middle. At the end, the bass riff returns until each part takes turns as a soloist. The piece finishes with everyone joining as a whole.

Premiered by The Solaire Saxophone Quartet at Indiana State University on March 9, 2015
